Master’s Degree Program

In the major of Contemporary Cultures, students review the particularities of contemporary societies and contemporary cultures while clarifying their societal and cultural transformation processes. Moreover, the students comprehensively and empirically approach issues associated with societal and cultural transformation processes such as living and health environmental changes, human psychology transformation, and changes of human concepts and senses of value. Through such research activities, we foster professionals and researchers with expertise in personal and social development.

In the major of Cooperativeness in Legal, Economics, and Social Affairs, students cultivate interest in peace, human rights, environments, resources, and other matters that are indispensable for realizing cooperation nationally and internationally. Through the studies, we foster professionals and researchers with the capacity to realistically analyze and understand such issues as international relations, international economic structures, and the mechanisms of national politics and international organizations.
>>Modern Social Networks (English Course)

In the major of Social and Cultural Sciences, students clarify social and cultural issues by deepening their understanding of the essence of regional societies and their characteristics and by comparing societies and cultures. The students highlight the historical development processes and linguistic and cultural characteristics of such regions as Japan, the areas surrounding the Sea of Japan, North America, and Europe in particular. Through this comprehensive approach, we foster professionals and researchers with expertise in societies and cultures.
>>Comparative Study of Societies and Cultures (English Course)

In the major of Contemporary Management Practices, students comprehensively and systemically research the management of corporations, public administration, and similar, and increase their capacity to inquire into issues and to find solutions to assigned tasks. Through such activities, we foster professionals and researchers with expertise in management of such organizations.

Doctoral Degree Program

In the major of Personal and Social Development, students analyze, from a comprehensive viewpoint, various issues related to personal and social development such as families, school education, regional societies, corporate societies, and similar environments and cultures. The students comprehend the problematic points of such issues, and theoretically and practically conduct research to find solutions to assigned tasks related to personal and social development. Through the studies, we foster high-level professionals and researchers with expertise in personal and social development.

In the major of Regional Cultures and Sociology, students focus on the regional characteristics of East Asia including Japan. By taking a synthetic and interdisciplinary approach crossing the humanities and social sciences, the students review the development processes of inherent cultures, competition between modernization and inherent cultures, the development processes of regional zones, and interactions within regions. Through such researches, we foster high-level professionals and researchers with expertise in regional cultures and societies.

In the major of Global Community, students review societal and cultural issues in international community from a historical comparative viewpoint by taking an approach integrating the humanities and social sciences. The students also analyze the institutional and systemical aspects of such issues. Through such researches, we foster high-level professionals and researchers with expertise in international community.

■ Degree acquisition processes

Students acquire their degree by submitting a degree request thesis.

Master's Degree Program

In the Master’s Degree Program, students acquire the necessary number of credits in the first year, and submit their “degree request thesis creation plan” in period I of the second year. After the plan is reviewed, the students submit their "degree request thesis." Through written and oral examinations of the "degree request thesis," we review whether the students have acquired sufficient capacity for their degree. If the students pass the exams, a Master's “degree” is conferred.

Doctoral Degree Program

In the Doctoral Degree Program, students firstly acquire the necessary number of credits, and then submit their “thesis submission qualification creation application.” Based on these, we review the research and academic capacities of the students who submitted their plan. When the students pass the reviews, they can acquire their “thesis submission qualification (Ph.D. Candidate)" (first step). Then, the students submit their “doctoral thesis draft” and receive instructions from our curriculum instruction committee (second step). After these, students complete and submit their "degree request thesis." By reviewing the thesis and examining orally, we review whether the students have sufficient capacity for their degree. If the students pass, a Doctor's “degree" will be conferred (third step).
