Graduate School of Modern Society and Culture provides with Special Selective Examination and arrangement of tutors to support International Students aiming to obtain a degree in Japan as a step for their international contribution.

Outline of Procedure for Screening Students for Admission [Master’s Degree Program] for International Students

Special Selective Examination

for International Students
(Master’s Degree Program)

Written Examination and Oral Examination are all taken into consideration when selecting students.
● Questions of the Written Examination (1 specialized course) will be given according to each Field.
●Oral Examination will be conducted based primarily on the application documents.

Entrance examinations are held three times a year: September Round (for Enrollment from April), February Round (for Enrollment from April or Enrollment from October), and July Round (for Enrollment from October).

※Applicants must first communicate with the prospective supervisor and obtain approval before application.

Preparation before examination

Individual who wishes to take examination to enter the Master’s Degree Program but doesn't have Master's degree may apply for a Non-Degree Research Student of a faculty. Contact the Academic Affairs Division of each Faculty.

The Procedure for Screening Students for Admission [Doctoral Degree Program] for International Students is outlined as below.

Special Selective Examination

For those who submitted a Master's Thesis, Written Examination and Oral Examination are all taken into consideration when selecting students.

● In the written Examination, Master's Thesis will be reviewed.
●Oral Examination will be conducted based primarily on the Master's Thesis and the application documents.

For those who can't submit a Master's Thesis, Written Examination and Oral Examination are all taken into consideration when selecting students.

● Content of the Written Examination is a specialized course (one course relating to the Major and Field to which you aim to be admitted).
●The specialized courses taken in the examination and the application documents are used as the main reference materials for the oral examination.

※ For applicants of these programs, Japanese language proficiency may be assessed, which is required for the curriculum after their entry.

※Applicants must first communicate with the prospective supervisor and obtain approval before application.
